“Our dictionaries lag behind our needs”

George Steiner, the cultural critic who wrote about the relationship between language, literature and society said this, and yes, how can we possibly explain what’s it’s like to live through this pandemic. At least most of us are still alive, but are we less indifferent to the small things? Do they seem more precious than before? Now that we’re experiencing some kind of collective consciousness can we even define what consciousness is?

So many questions and when asked to define consciousness, Gary Lachman, who’s written many books about the topic simply said, “Maybe it’s just drama, a vast theater and we all need to participate, at least try…” I paraphrase but you get the gist…
