You have to take a train, and a bike, but it’s worth it.

When I lived in Amsterdam I thought it would be as easy as a walk down the street to see ‘Cafe Terrace at Night’. This was a favorite Van Gogh – however it wasn’t located in the city center.

A minor trip was required to see a major piece of art. In fact I had to take a train from Amsterdam to Otterlo, then a bike throught the forest, all the way to the Kröller-Müller Museum.

But what a ride and worth the effort. I loved living in the center of the city, right next to everything Amsterdam had to offer. Yet to get beyond, to see the town of Otterlo, how the Dutch exist in the rest of the country. Lovely, compact, elegant houses. Like the one below. Then a bicycle trip; it’s still Holland, after all…

Oh the things my feet have seen.
