Orson Welles and Palazzo Contarini del Bovolo

Orson Welles used this extraordinary staircase in his 1952 adaption of Shakespeare’s Othello, it’s prominently featured in the film and you can see why. I’d never even heard of it until someone mentioned it to me prior to my last visit to Venice.

Highly recommend because it’s gorgeous to look at, lovely to climb and the views are spectacular.
