I moved to the middle of nowhere to learn how to listen to them

Our beloved trees. I moved to a place in the middle of nowhere to learn how to listen to them.

Here on Garda, my friend Mariano said, due to an insect issue, they’ll have to cut down all the palm trees.

Gosh. While cruising from Chez Robere to Chez Bay it may only take 5 minutes but there’s dozens, it’ll alter our landscape on the lake. (chez Robere)

In fact there’s a running joke and it’s probably true – when the Germans and Austrians drove down to Italy – Riva’s the first place they saw palm trees, hence each summer we’re flooded with them.

Tho no joke about the insect issue – sigh. That spiral design and those feathery fan shaped leaves will be dearly missed.

When I think of the unique beauty of Italy; I often think of the trees…
