An Archetype is like a seizure

Apparently its allot like falling in love. You have a seizure. Or, when something dramatic is about to happen. You react spontaneously. You’re seized with a certain spell and behave in a certain way. You do something strange to yourself. This is what its like to experience your archetype. Apparently.

Carl Jung talks about archetypes and he also talked about how “Americans are extroverted as hell.” He became so animated as he said this, and less like a Swiss. Don’t think he meant it as a positive. Could explain the drug use, could explain a lot of things. One can be too extroverted.

The vid is a great conversation, Carl Jung continues to teach from the grave.

In case you’re curious, I’ve become less extroverted living in Europe. Always gregarious, but I seemed to have attached myself with the idea its great to live hard and fast for 50 yrs, then its time to explore why you lived so hard and fast in the first place. Time to be quiet, contemplate, enjoy nature and it’s blissful silence.

That’s why I wrote my book, A European Odyssey; How a boxer’s daughter found grace. It made me review my life and the country I came from, and it was ideal writing at a distance. Like living in Rome, time kinda stopped. I was relieved to finish the book. Time to live in the present. But it was all worth it. All of it.

Perhaps I’m finally absorbing some aspects of the Italian culture. You might assume these people are operatic, Latin types, but I find the Italians are often trying to lower the temperature. In a myriad of ways. But when drama unfolds they respond well, and fast.

It makes sense. So much to get excited about. And we’re at war.

Yet many aren’t convinced Americans get this concept called war – Americans live in a country surrounded by a polite culture up north and a fun culture down south. And two oceans to keep them isolated from all the drama their government creates around the world.

But my goodness, I wonder if they know how many countries are tired of America telling them what to do, in such extroverted fashion. It’s cruel, it could even be construed as evil.

More and more each day. This Anglo-American approach, the rest of the world has had enough. However, they’re keeping as quiet as possible, they don’t want to get the Americans too excited. Behind closed doors.

Piano, piano, as they say here in Italy.

Softly, slowly goes it..
